Instructor Notes
This tutorial follows the environment, simulation, and analysis tutorials in the EIC series. It assumes learners already have working knowledge of CERN ROOT and Python.
Before the session
- Ask learners to complete the Setup page in
advance, in particular the installation of
uprootandxrootd. On Google Colab the setup cell takes about 10 minutes to run, so it should ideally be done before the live session. - The lesson streams simulation-campaign files over
xrootd. Check that the campaign paths in the episodes are still accessible before teaching (campaigns roll over and older ones are removed).
Timing
The lesson is about 55 minutes of teaching plus exercises. Most of the exercises are hands-on inspection of the simulation and reconstruction output in the notebook environment.
